Outside of Pooh himself, Eeyore is one of the most beloved characters of all time. Sweet and self-conscious, and
decidedly gloomy (yet incredibly loving), Eeyore speaks to just about every child, and many adults; his quotes and
sayings can make young and old alike giggle. Outside of the obvious “Thanks for noticin’ me” and “Ohhh-kayyy”,
Eeyore has come up with some gems since his creation in 1926.

Eeyore has said so much to delight children and adults of all ages. The following are some of my personal
favorites, and think that they sum up the attitude of most cynics. With his lovable charm, Eeyore can capture any
situation with the usual gloom and doom, and do so with charm.
When discussing whether or not to search for the North Pole with Piglet, Pooh, and Tigger, the gray donkey
exclaimed, "I'm not asking anybody, I'm just telling everybody. We can look for the North Pole, or we can play
'Here we go gathering Nuts in May' with the end part of an ants' nest. It's all the same to me."
On his friendship with the other characters in the Hundred Acre Woods, Eeyore said, "I might have known. After
all, one can't complain. I have my friends. Somebody spoke to me only yesterday. And was it last week or the week
before that Rabbit bumped into me and said 'Bother!' The Social Round. Always something going on." He was up to his
usual self by making light of the way all the animals interacted in the 100 acre woods.
Even in his characteristic doom and gloom view of the world, Eeyore could (occasionally) look at the bright
side. During the winter, he had the following exchange with Pooh "It's snowing still," said Eeyore gloomily. "So it
is." said Pooh. Eeyore retorted “and freezing”. Surprised, Pooh responded, “Is it”? "Yes," said Eeyore. "However,"
he said, brightening up a little, "we haven't had an earthquake lately."
Despite his somewhat dire outlook, Eeyore can almost always bring a smile to someone’s face. This collection of
quotes and sayings is just a small sampling of the nearly 100 years of pessimism that, somehow, still manages to be
